About Guy
La Rocque - Like most Jerseyman, I was born in St Helier and spent my first five years living in a flat in Le Geyt Street, overlooking Poole's Garage, which is no longer there. The family then moved to La Rocque, where I grew up and, not surprisingly, developed a love for the sea and watersports, particularly sailing. My late father was, theoretically, "Bergerac's Boss", as Head of the Bureau des Etrangers, better known as the Chief Officer of Jersey's Aliens and Immigration Department.
Channel Television - I spent eight years working as a reporter and news presenter for Channel TV and I'm quite proud of some of the programming I offered, from political analysis to light entertainment shows featuring local people. Nevertheless, I am generally remembered only as Guy de Faye - Puffin Slayer! I worked briefly for Radio Jersey, commentating on the States, and also for the Jersey Journal, before moving to London to work for ITN News.
ITN World News - Unfortunately, although I eventually become one of the two anchormen on ITN's global export product, the World News, few Islanders will have watched my efforts, because the UK and the Channel Islands were one of the few places where it wasn't transmitted. In fact, the ITN World News went to Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, as well as the United States, where regular viewers included TV news legend, Walter Cronkite and, perhaps rather unexpectedly, Hollywood star, Raquel Welch.
CNBC & Euronews - Some of you may have spotted me during the two years I worked on the early morning CNBC Business News programme "Europe Today", or, most recently, heard my English language commentary on EuroNews 24 hour rolling news service. I have lived in Inner and Greater London for 15 years and have travelled all round the world.
